Our Procedures
  • Bleeding Gums

Bleeding gums is a common symptom of gum disease. There are chances that bleeding gums can be from brushing the teeth too hard, or from wearing dentures that do not fit properly. However, most bleeding tends to come from gingivitis or gum disease. This occurs when bacteria have stuck to the teeth, which resulted in the build-up of plaque. If the plaque is not removed, it can harden into tartar, which will irritate the gums and increase the chances of bleeding and periodontitis.

  • Cavities

Cavities are areas of the teeth that have become decayed, which have resulted in holes in the teeth. Cavities are caused by the build-up of plaque, a substance that sits on the teeth made of bacteria, saliva, and food particles. Although cavities begin small, there is the chance for them to become larger if they are left untreated. Cavities are hard to distinguish because most do not show pain in the beginning, however, by visiting the dentist, cavities can be caught early.

  • Chipped Teeth

Chipped Teeth may occur if you are eating a substance that is hard, have an accident, play contact sports without a mouthguard, or grind your teeth while asleep. It takes a lot of pressure for a tooth to chip because the enamel, which covers a tooth, is one of the strongest substances in the body. However, forceful impact or wear may still cause a tooth to chip.

  • Cold Sores

Cold Sores are small blisters that form near the mouth which are commonly connected to the virus called herpes simplex. Cold sores are complex because some individuals who carry the virus do not have breakouts; however, those who deal with a weak immune system or high stress, may find themselves getting cold sores more often. Some symptoms that arise during a cold sore breakout are burning sensations on the lip or face, raised red blisters, fever, and muscle aches.

  • Cracked Teeth

Cracked Teeth can result from a couple different things, chewing on hard foods, grinding teeth during the nights, and even from age. However, it should be taken seriously as it can lead to tooth loss, excessive pain, sensitivity, and swelling around the tooth. A cracked tooth will never be fully healed; however, if it is treated quickly enough, there is a chance to prevent infection or other damage.

  • Gum Disease

Gum Disease is branched from gingivitis, which is an inflammation of the gums around the supporting teeth. This commonly happens from poor hygiene and results in swollen gums and bleeding when brushing and flossing. However, as gingivitis becomes gum disease, also known as periodontitis, your gums may become swollen, red, and lead to recession.

  • Gum Recession

Gum Recession is a condition where the gums begin to pull away from the tooth, which ends up exposing the root of the tooth. Gum recession stems from periodontal disease and can be caused by aggressive brushing, plaque buildup, hormonal change, and genetics. If your tooth is exposed to gum recession, it is best to contact a dentist to help prevent further damage.

  • Halitosis

Halitosis, also known as bad breath, is a strong odor that comes from the mouth and lasts a long period of time. When someone is dealing with bad breath, it may be due to dental issues, a dry mouth, or smoking. However, it tends to become more prominent when food is lodged in between the teeth, which is why we recommend brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash twice a day to remove an unwanted debris.

  • Oral Cancer

Oral Cancer starts with the cells in our mouth which slowly become a tumour as cells group together and destroy tissue. It looks like a small sore, but it does not go away, which should cause suspicion. It can develop on multiple areas around the mouth such as: the lips, gums, tongue, inner cheeks, roof of the mouth, or under the tongue.

  • Stained Teeth

A healthy smile is at the top of all our lists. However, as time goes on, we may notice that our teeth start to become stained. Stained Teeth can be caused by lifestyle habits such as what we eat, what we drink, poor dental hygiene, medications, and our natural age. If you are worried about stains on your teeth, Dr. Victor Spicer can help.

  • Teeth Grinding

Teeth Grinding, also known as bruxism, is a condition where someone will grind or clench their teeth, jaw, or both. This condition may happen while awake but is most found while asleep. There are some symptoms that relate to teeth grinding such as: headaches, jaw aches, and tooth sensitivity. If bruxism is left untreated, it can cause long-term damage such as worn tooth enamel or risk of tooth decay.

  • Tooth Sensitivity

Tooth Sensitivity can be a painful and discomforting experience. Pain may be caused when someone has a spoonful of hot soup or drinks a cold beverage. If you get teeth sensitivity when you eat hot or cold items, this can be a sign of sensitive teeth, or it may be due to cavities. This could be a temporary problem and should be checked by a dentist at your next dental appointment.
