Our Procedures

More than just a great smile

There is a lot more to a dentist than the sole focus of teeth. Dentists must be able to handle a myriad of issues that pertain to your mouth, gums, or teeth. From the look of a tooth, to the gums, to the support structures in our mouths, there is a lot more to a dentist than patients may think.

At Dr. Victor Spicer's dental clinic, we provide our patients with a variety of comprehensive dental services in the Edmonton area. Dentistry is about helping our patients by beginning with an evaluation, determining the diagnosis, and then following with prevention and treatments that suit each patient. With over thirty years of experience in dentistry, we believe we can provide our patients with great dental care.

Our Treatments

General Dentistry

Dentistry can be a broad term to understand, however, it involves the prevention and treatment of a variety of conditions, disorders, and diseases which will ultimately impact a patient’s oral health. During the initial oral exam done by a dentist, they may check for signs of chipped or cracked teeth, cold sores, halitosis (bad breath), oral cancer, or bruxism (teeth grinding). This will help a dentist diagnosis a problem and give advice for prevention.

Restorative Dentistry

This form of dentistry allows a dentist to restore a patient’s teeth and gums to their original functionality and healthy state. A patient may need restorative dentistry if they have cavities or suffer from tooth sensitivity. Some of these treatments may become extremely painful if not taken care of, which is why at Dr. Victor Spicer's dental clinic, we want to ensure your smile is painless.

Cosmetic Dentistry

We offer a variety of cosmetic procedures at Dr. Victor Spicer's dental clinic, all of which will help enhance the look of your smile. If teeth are stained, discoloured, chipped, misshapen, or worn down, there are options in cosmetic dentistry that can help fix those problems. Cosmetic dentistry is here to help patients improve the appearance of their teeth and smile, which overall improves self-confidence. The most common procedures for cosmetic dentistry are:

Teeth Whitening

This is the most common way to whiten the teeth to remove stains or discolouration. We recommend that teeth whitening be done by a professional due to sensitivity that may occur by consumer-based products.

Veneers

A dentists will create custom porcelain veneers which are customized shells that get bonded to the surface of the teeth, to enhance the smile. Veneers are commonly used to help damaged, cracked, or misaligned teeth.

Endodontics

Endodontics is a dental specialty that works with dental issues related to the pulp and tissue of a tooth. Endodontists are commonly known as “root canal specialists” because a root canal is one of the most common procedures for an endodontist. A root canal is needed when a cavity or tooth decay have deepened into the tooth and hit the nerve. If the nerve has become impacted, it usually results in a bacterial infection. To prevent further damage or exposure, a root canal treatment will need to be done to remove the infected tissue in the area of the tooth.

Periodontics

Oral health is much more than just the health of your teeth, it is the care for your gums as well. Periodontics is a branch of dentistry that focuses on helping restore the health of the gums, which may have been damaged due to plaque or tartar which led to gingivitis or gum disease. Swollen or bleeding gums are usually the first sign of periodontitis because it means the gums have most likely become infected with bacteria. It is important to get periodontitis taken care of immediately, to ensure that it does not impact your overall health.
